Why do we need AI in power system?

AI is a game-changer for power systems, especially considering my reliance on constantly-available electricity for my smart home and electric vehicle. Its ability to handle the intermittent nature of renewables like solar and wind is essential. Without AI-driven grid management, the fluctuating power output from these sources would lead to frequent blackouts or brownouts, something I simply can’t afford, both literally and figuratively. AI’s predictive capabilities go beyond simple reaction; it anticipates peak demand and proactively adjusts power distribution, optimizing energy usage and minimizing waste. This translates to lower energy bills for me and a more sustainable energy future. Furthermore, AI-powered systems enhance grid security by identifying and mitigating potential threats in real-time, preventing costly and disruptive cyberattacks. The improved efficiency also reduces the strain on traditional power plants, extending their lifespan and delaying the need for costly upgrades.
